The Piston Keychain

OVER A YEAR IN THE MAKING

When we had a chance to buy a piston from a 2000 year Ferrari F1 car, we knew it was perfect for the project. We scanned it, miniaturized it and got to work!

Made in LA, the cast silver piston is free to move on the forged carbon con rod, thanks to an innovative piece of laser welding. The split ring rotates through a turned silver "rod bearing" that is forged into the carbon during the molding process.

This is a remarkably labor-intensive project, resulting in an unexpectedly subtle final product with intimate details that you will enjoy studying.
